we're not in Nebraska anymore

from today's Raleigh News & Observer

Almost a year ago, a half-inch of snow so paralyzed Raleigh that routine commutes turned into 10-hour odysseys and hundreds of school children were stranded in classrooms overnight.

Today, the city will brace for its first "wintry-mix" storm with a new strategy to avoid such chaos and humiliation.
